JSW Thermal Energy (JSW Thermal), a wholly owned subsidiary of JSW Energy, has entered into a contract with its associate company, Toshiba JSW Power Systems (Toshiba JSW) for the procurement of two steam turbine generators (TG) of 800 MW each for Phase 2 of its Salboni Thermal Project in West Bengal.
With this order, the Company has completed the placement of turbine-generator equipment orders for the entire 3,200 MW (4 x 800 MW) Salboni Thermal Power Project (Salboni TPP), following the earlier order for Phase 1 (2 x 800 MW) units.
The turbine-generator package will be manufactured and supplied in line with the project's construction schedule, supporting timely completion and commissioning of the plant. By sourcing key equipment through an associate company, the Company aims to enhance supply chain certainty, improve coordination during execution, and reduce risks arising from industry wide equipment shortages.
JSW Energy currently has an installed thermal generation capacity of 5,958 MW and 5,000 MW under construction capacity, comprising 3,200 MW at Salboni and 1,800 MW at JSW Mahanadi Power Company (JMPCL).
JSW Energy today announced crossing the 15 GW installed capacity milestone, post the commissioning of 1,572 MW of generation capacity since April 2026, increasing its total operational capacity to 15,025 MW. This milestone was achieved in under six quarters after the Company crossed 10 GW in March 2025, representing a CAGR of ~26% and underscoring its strong execution capabilities and consistent progress against its growth roadmap.
The capacity added in FY27 to date comprises 1,272 MW of renewable energy capacity, including 593 MW of solar, 108 MW of wind, 420 MW of hybrid and 150 MW of hydro projects, along with 300 MW of inorganic thermal capacity.
Renewable energy now constitutes over 60% (9,067 MW) of the Company's operational portfolio, comprising 3,125 MW of wind, 2,426 MW of solar, 1,735 MW of hybrid, and 1,781 MW of hydro capacity. The thermal portfolio stands at 5,958 MW. The Company remains on track to meet its greenfield capacity addition target of 3 GW for FY2027, having achieved approximately 42% of the target to date.
JSW Energy has a total locked-in generation capacity of 32.4 GW — comprising 15.0 GW operational and 13.4 GW under construction across thermal, hydro, and renewables — along with a pipeline of 4.0 GW. Locked-in energy storage capacity stands at 29.6 GWh, comprising 26.4 GWh of pumped hydro storage and 3.2 GWh of battery energy storage — positioning the Company to supply firm, round-the-clock power as the sector shifts from energy to dispatchability.
The Company is targeting 30 GW of generation capacity and 40 GWh of energy storage by 2030, and carbon neutrality by 2050.
JSW Energy announced the successful completion of the acquisition of 100% of the equity share capital of Maruti Clean Coal & Power (MCCPL).
Further to this, MCCPL has become a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Company. MCCPL owns and operates a 300 MW thermal power plant at Korba, Chhattisgarh. The plant has a long term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) of 195 MW (net) with Rajasthan discoms, routed through PTC India, with a residual PPA life of ~14 years. In addition, the plant provides 5% power at variable cost to the Chhattisgarh discom, while the balance ~64 MW capacity is sold in the merchant market. Coal is secured through a long-term Fuel Supply Agreement with SECL, and linkage under the SHAKTI scheme.
The transaction values MCCPL at an Enterprise Value of Rs 1,410 crore. The acquired asset's FY26 EBITDA stood at ~Rs 279 crore. The asset is EBITDA and PAT-accretive from day one, while also reducing the Company's net leverage and strengthening overall balance sheet resilience. With this acquisition, the Company's total Installed capacity stands at 14,835 MW.
